You have taken the decision of wearing a tattoo, now what? Unless it is your own name or the name of your parents or a brother, tattooing a name onto your skin is not a good option, disregard the fact that you have chosen one with a truly artistic design. 

Even then, what if you need to change your name or you do not want to hear from your family for any given reason? Even if the name is someone close to you, the circumstances may change, imagine what could happen wearing the name of a girl you are in love with today but you may hate tomorrow. 

Religious names or symbols are not advisable either, unless your faith or beliefs cannot confront any public consideration or the tattoo is applied to a part of your body where not everybody can see it all the time. In Asia, people wearing religious tattoos associated with Satanism or criminal gangs, are usually treated as unwanted people. 

Perhaps the only exception is Christian related tattoos since this religion is widely accepted or respected worldwide, but not necessarily a guarantee that you will not have fanaticism problems with someone. The best tattoos are usually those that you design on your own. 

Multi-faceted forms, colors and shapes can result in original tattoos that nobody else may wear. Otherwise, you can choose from a wide array of common and not so common forms, such as the following: 

- Horoscope signs, the more unusual the better. Try vintage designs or draw you own interpretation. 

- Nature elements, finding exotic plants or compose a landscape, like those in miniature watercolor paintings. 

- Popular characters, only if you are convinced that you will still like them after their popularity is gone. 

- Celebrities, names or faces, but mostly recommended for those that have been your long time favorites. 

- Tribal designs, even when some of them have religious association, not everybody knows about the meanings and they look very attractive. 

- Angels, with the exception of those with satanic implications, unless you are convinced you want them. 

- Animals, any existing in wildlife, domestic pets or mythological beings 

- Mythology, not only animals, you can have a tattoo of any ancient God, Goddess or Hero. 

- Crosses, even related to different religions crosses are seen as neutral, looking great with the right design. 

- Arm bands, increasingly popular even as fashion jewelry, with Celtic, Egyptian, Roman or any other motif. 

- Items, whatever you desire, a car, a motorcycle, your dream house, a cup of wine, or anything else. 

Make your imagination say the last word when choosing your tattoo design.
