Irish Tattoos

Ireland is a country full of mystical symbolism dating from different eras and cultures established on the island since ancient times, but particularly famous for the heritage of Celts and Druids. Irish Tattoos are usually associated with some of those forms of Celtic art, such as the traditional Claddaugh heart, the Celtic cross or Shamrock designs.

Doing a little research and browsing the many Celtic styles and rich variety of other artwork originally from Ireland, you can have incredible Irish Tattoos resembling a masterpiece applied to your skin. Selecting one of the branches belonging to the Irish culture, you will be able to focus your attention in determined designs to get the most.

Irish people are proud of their heritage, so they are often the ones that prefer Irish tattoos above other tattooing art. However, there are two main tendencies in Irish Tattoos; one closely related to the barbarian era of Celts and Druids, and other associated with their conversion to Christianity after Saint Patrick.

Modern Irish people are extremely religious so it is not strange that many of them wear Christian Irish symbols as tattoos, instead of the typical Celtic designs. Irish Tattoos from outside Ireland generally are not associated to religion, but to Celtic heritage, although there is an amalgamation of traditions and forms of styles.

The different designs of the Celtic cross confirm the fusion between Celtic traditions and Christian imagery. Irish Tattoos can put together pagan and Christian artwork, resulting in timeless soulful designs that generally will never cause any regret, like may happen sometimes with other types of tattoos.

Although many artists agree with the use of bold, black tattooing technique for Irish Tattoos, most people prefer the application of rich colors, although some others adhere strictly to patterns of originality, asking for mossy, reddish, sepia, dark green or brownish pigmentation to remark those tattoos based on knotwork.

Original art from the Celts also included stylized images from nature, and tribal symbols incorporated with many of their artwork. Later, Ireland began to be known as the land of the evergreen, the shamrocks and the pots of gold, usually accompanied by Leprechauns and other friendly gnomes depicted in different Irish tattoos.

Some Irish designs include some of these appealing elements, including the rainbow that leads to the promise of hidden treasures, on your skin the result is the beautiful artwork of some of the classic symbols of Irish Tattoos, including their rich Celtic and Christian culture and art.
